The Bookcrossing project is an initiative by the Biblioteca Mestra Maria Antònia that promotes reading and the circulation of books throughout the municipality. The goal is for everyone to have free access to books by taking them, reading them, and returning them so that others can also enjoy them.
What is Bookcrossing?
Bookcrossing involves leaving books in public spots so that readers can freely take them, read them, and then return them or leave them in another location. This creates a network of traveling books that pass from one person to another.
Who manages it?
This project is managed by the Biblioteca Mestra Maria Antònia with the support of the L’Onada Foundation, which is responsible for renewing and distributing books at the different Bookcrossing points across Torredembarra.
How does it work?
- Choose a book from one of the Bookcrossing points.
- Take it, enjoy reading it, and once you’re done, return it or leave it at another point for someone else to discover.
- Additionally, if you have books at home that you’d like to share, you can also leave them at any Bookcrossing point.
At Port Torredembarra, we have two book exchange points. One is located right at the entrance of our offices, in the Capitanía building, which you can access even when closed. The other is on the first floor of the building where our offices are located, where you will find a well-stocked library with books in different languages and a collection of magazines on nautical and travel topics.
We encourage you to take part!
